We Remember
by Mike Huckabee
Most of us remember where we were and what we were doing on that tragic day ten years ago when America was brutally attacked. But what I also remember is what happened after the terrorists struck.
Our country came together in a way that many of us had not seen in our lifetimes - we mourned together, and united as one people. We were determined to seek justice for the thousands of innocent victims lost on that terrible day, we were resolute in our determination that it would not happen again.
We all remember the heroes of that day - average people at work on what started out as a beautiful September day, like the people who led their co-workers to safety, or chose to stay with an injured co-worker. The firemen rushing into the burning buildings, when others were rushing out. The policemen and other first responders who rushed to the scenes, seeking to help, and saving as many people as they could. Who can forget the heroes at the Pentagon, leading injured workers to safety, rushing into the devastation to look for survivors? Or the passengers of Flight 93 who made the decision to fight rather than let the terrorists strike again at our Nation's Capitol.
Although a lot has happened in the ten years since September 11, I believe that Americans will come together once again to remember what happened, and will come together to solve the problems now confronting our nation. Americans have always stood shoulder to shoulder when facing danger and troubled times. We did ten years ago and we will do it now. What are your memories of September 11?
