We do not need a leader who is "personally prolife" we need one who will fight to protect the GOD-given rights of every human being (as stated in our Declaration). It is NOT a states rights decision. In this election cycle, so far, there isn't an unequivocally pro-life candidate in the GOP race yet. But the quotes below show what kind of leader America needs in 2012:
"Slavery is a moral issue. That's why I define the whole issue of the sanctity of life and marriage not in political terms but in moral terms. If it's a political issue, then it is perfectly legitimate to have 50 different versions."
"This is an issue that is a cornerstone issue of our culture because if we get it wrong; if we somehow ever come to the place where we believe that some lives are worth more than others; that some lives have more value than others; that some people are elevated in worth greater than others, then we will have failed; miserably failed. It is the depth of our commitment to saying that however long it takes, however many years that we must come together, we will continue to stand and we will continue to make our voices heard...this issue is not settled until we have a human life amendment to the Constitution of the United States!
There cannot be a geographical distinction when it comes down to something that is either right or wrong. Abraham Lincoln said over a hundred years ago that if slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong. It would be fair to say that if abortion is not wrong than nothing is wrong. And Ladies and Gentleman, let us settle it today, it is wrong to take the life of an unborn child.
There are those who want to redefine what life means. There are those who want to say that everybody can have his own definition of when life begins and when life is worth living. But I hope as a society and as a culture that we will decide in this nation that we are a culture of life and not a culture of death. For the same reason that we think it's wrong for a parent to strap a bomb to the belly of his own child and blow up the child for his cause, what makes us think that it is OK to expend the life of our children because they might represent an inconvenience to us or an interruption or interference in our lives?
I hope that the day will come when we no longer bring ourselves to a march for the purpose of hoping what we can do but I hope that one day, January 22, will be a day that we will gather so that we can celebrate what we have done to elevate human life; to elevate our culture and to elevate our nation to it's highest and not it's lowest standards of respecting each other as all of us are equal. GOD bless you today for coming out and taking a stand for life."
"Pro-life isn't just a political statement. It goes to the very root and core of who we are and what we think about life. And the core is that we value it."
"The unique part of our country is that we elevate and we celebrate human life."
"Life is really precious, life is God's creation. We don't have a right to interrupt a process He has started."
"Inside every human being there are treasures to unlock."
"You have no idea how many millions of dollars will likely be poured into your state...hardcore political money that is designed to preserve the abortion industry which is a multi million dollar industry specifically designed in order to terminate life and make people rich. This is not about elevating women. This is about elevating wealth on behalf of those who profit from the sale of death.
"It's not about left and right," Huckabee said. "It's about right and wrong."—Mike Huckabee talking about abortion is not about politics or parties.
"I believe the sanctity of a human life is rooted in who we are as a culture and as a civilization. And should we turn our back on this fundamental truth, we have turned our back on the very essence and foundation of who we are as a people."
"For me this is an issue that - as I've said before - it transcends all of the political issues. I've often said I would gladly lose an election before I would ever yield on the issue of the sanctity of human life."
"As a governor I've signed virtually every kind of pro-life legislation that we can sign under existing federal law."
"The American People aren't so much interested in a demolition derby with the other members of the party. There are some real issues that we need to be fighting for and one of them is the sanctity of life."
"However long it takes, however many years that we must come together, we will continue to stand and we will continue to make our voices heard...this issue is not settled until we have a human life amendment to the Constitution of the United States!"
"Can you let the tragedy of abortion go unchecked while we get our financial house in order? I can't. I will not!" — Mike Huckabee
